New Digital Initiatives

CT Dept. of Veterans' Affairs

The State of Connecticut has debuted two new digital initiatives to assist the more than 200,000 veterans who live in the state in an effort to better connect veterans with the information on benefits and services that are available – a redesigned website for the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), and a newly launched smartphone app.

The DVA’s new website – located at www.ct.gov/veterans – greets users with a cleaner interface and presents information in real-time for veterans who are searching for the services and benefits offered through the agency. The website is also self-adjusting to the various electronic platforms users may have, resulting in a seamless transition from computer to mobile device.

The CTVeterans smartphone app is available for both Apple and Android mobile devices. Directed toward veterans, those who are currently servicing, their families, and supporters of veterans, the app provides a directory of services the state provides for veterans, as well as access to the Veterans Crisis hotline, and information on how to support veterans in the state. It can be downloaded free of charge from the iTunes Store and Google Play Store by searching the keyword “CTVeterans.”

“Our nation’s veterans deserve the very best, and modernizing our state website and launching a new smartphone app is a way that we are better connecting the men and women who have selflessly served our nation to the services available to them,” Governor Malloy said.

“I applaud the Department of Veterans Affairs for finding new ways to reach our veterans,” Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman said. “As technology advances, so must how we provide information and assistance. One of our top priorities is ensuring more veterans connect with the services and supports they need to live fuller, healthier lives. We must do more than just thank our veterans for their service to the state and the nation. Improving our outreach and ensuring our programs are valuable to the veteran community is a great place to start. The new app and the website redesign are a good step forward.”

“We’re very excited to be revealing these two new digital advances that will connect the more than 200,000 Connecticut veterans who call this state home, with the services and benefits they have earned,” DVA Acting Commissioner Thomas J. Saadi said. “We couldn’t have done this without the help of our sister agency, the Department of Administrative Services’ Bureau of Enterprise Systems and Technology, the folks at Connecticut Interactive, and our great team at the Department of Veterans Affairs.”
