Advisory on Eastern Equine Encephalitis

Reports of Eastern Equine Ecephalitis in Eastern Connecticut are cause for increased caution during outdoor activities, especially around dusk and dawn. Nearly 100 mosquitoes have tested positive in the state this year. One human case has been reported and several horses have tested positive.

This is not a cause for panic, but residents should be aware of the heightened risk. Limit outdoor activities around dusk and dawn. If you or your child will be outside around this time, apply repellant bug spray and wear protective clothing such as long sleeves and pants instead of shorts.

A calendar of dusk/dawn times is attached.
