JTL Nutmeg Book Club

The JTL Nutmeg Book Club is a discussion group for kids in grades 4-6 (ages 8-12).

The club meets monthly on a Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Each meeting will include lively discussion, activities, and a delicious book-related treat. Amy Witherell has generously offered to lead discussions and provide treats. Thank you, Amy!

*Books will be available to borrow the month prior to each event. Registration is required.

Wed., February 19, 2020 — Unbound: A Novel in Verse by Ann E. Burg
Grace is called from the slave cabins to the big house to work for the Master. Grace’s Mama warned her to keep her questions to herself. When Grace is unable to take the injustice, she is forced to run away to the safety of the Great Dismal Swamp.  (snack: kitchen sink cookies)

Ravi has only just moved to America from India. Joe has been here his whole life. They are two outcasts who don’t agree on anything, until they’re shoved together by the universe (and their teacher), and continue to… not get along. Understanding middle school is hard for humans but for robot, Fuzzy, it’s impossible! Vice Principal Barbara is determined to weed out all students who don’t measure up and Fuzzy is her number one target. Can Maxine help Fuzzy survive VP Barbara when he can barely navigate the hallways?  (snack: robot rice krispie treats)
