The Assessor's Office is responsible for the discovery, listing, and equitable valuation of all real and personal property within the Town in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes. The office compiles the Grand List annually as of the October 1st assessment date. The Grand List is used in the budget process to determine the tax rate each year.
Additionally, the Assessor administers state and local programs of tax relief, apply exemptions as permitted by state law and assist the public with a variety of inquiries and record copy requests. Questions concerning assessed value, adjustments, exemptions, tax relief and motor vehicle tax credits should be directed to the Assessor’s Office.
Questions regarding billing, tax balances due, amounts paid and interest should be directed to the Tax Collector’s Office.
