On Sunday, July 11, Dr. Nancy Finley will present a fascinating look at how the Revolutionary War was viewed by people in the 19th century as they looked back at the patriots through the popular prints produced by the Kellogg Brothers of Hartford. Operating from 1830-1880, the Kelloggs were Connecticut's 19th-century rivals to Currier & Ives.
The program begins at 2 p.m. at the Lebanon Historical Society Museum, 856 Trumbull Highway, Route 87, Lebanon. The program is free and the public is invited. It is sponsored by the Jonathan Trumbull Junior House as part of the year-long celebration of Governor Jonathan Trumbull Senior's 300th birthday this year. The Junior House will be closed July 11 so that visitors can enjoy this special program.
Dr. Finley, curator of graphics at the Connecticut Historical Society, is editor of the nationally acclaimed book, Picturing Victorian America: Prints by the Kellogg Brothers of Hartford, Connecticut 1830-1880. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
