A MESSAGE TO OUR STAFF, PARENTS, STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY

It is with great enthusiasm that the Lebanon Board of Education announces the selection of Mrs. Janet Tyler as the next Superintendent of Schools for Lebanon. The Board wants to thank the staff, parents, students and community members for their participation in this process and for so carefully defining the qualities of our next superintendent. Special thanks to the Steering Committee for their commitment to the selection of a quality candidate for Lebanon.

Janet's broad educational experiences as a classroom teacher at all levels including adult education and her work in teaching and learning as a previous reading consultant and director of curriculum/ instruction impressed everyone who met with her. This combined with her work as a superintendent in smaller districts seemed to come together to fill many of the key characteristics we collectively defined and desired for the next Lebanon Superintendent.

Those who worked with her most recently say, “She rolled up her sleeves and addressed the numerous needs and budget books were revised and monthly financial reports were presented at public meetings to the BOE. Her oversight of facilities has been impeccable”. Another said, “Janet is an uncompromising professional with best practices and leads by demonstration and example for her colleagues and professional staff with youngsters at the center of her universe”.

At the Site visit, Board members learned more about the initiatives she implemented beginning with the development of a collaborative comprehensive vision, facilitating the overall district operations, creating a fiscally-responsible, transparent budget and her visibility in the community. One of her previous colleagues told us she is a great person and would be a “home run” for Lebanon. We are pleased to announce our choice to you.

Although she will not be joining us officially until summer, she is planning to spend time with the Board and staff in our schools prior to summer vacation. We know you will join us in welcoming her to Lebanon. Thank you again for your support.
